About
We’ve set up The Newly Rich to chronicle our experiences with implementing principles from 4HWW; what works, what doesn’t, and new twists from a family perspective. Occasionally, you’ll find stuff related to books and sites that we refer to, all loosely based around smart, practical (albeit often unconventional) living.
For those that haven’t read 4HWW, the title of this site is a play on a culture Tim defines as “The New Rich” (NR). Being that we’re new to the game, “newly” seemed an appropriate adaptation.
About Us
Chelsey is currently a fulltime mother of our 2-year-old daughter. Jed is an interaction designer, Flash/Flex Actionscript consultant, and entrepreneur. George is our remote (“virtual”) personal assistant, and Hank is our local guy.
Jed currently spends most of his time on 3 web businesses:
- HavingThingsDone – onshore, virtual personal assistants
- WebSort – online card sorting
- Guapo – video sharing for researchers

Really going for it
One thing became obvious when first reading through the book: 4HWW is not an all-or-nothing philosophy. Many of the individual ideas can have positive effects without requiring you to completely quit your job and launch new web-based businesses. However, for the next several months (or years?) we intend to push some limits and try everything we can: outsourcing, extended travel, applying 80/20 extensively, building up our muses, and even the 4-hour body.
