To save on flights I try to fly when I am not in a huge rush to get where I am going, and then while waiting to board I go to the desk and let them know I am willing to get bumped from my seat if they’ll put me on the next flight and give me a free travel voucher and food vouchers.
I end up sitting around the airport for an extra 2 hours but I get to eat anywhere I want to and am given a free flight.
Just bring a good book!

I do pretty much the same thing, except with american. I live on the blue line so I always want to fly out of o’hare, and I’ve never had a problem flying american. They aren’t quite as cheap as southwest, but I can always get a round trip flight to my hometown for $198

I would definitely swap out the “Travelocity” step for “Kayak.com”! Otherwise, I am digging the flowcharts
